Aleph Geddis is a sculptor who creates stunning geometric forms from wood, using traditional techniques and modern aesthetics. His works are particularly inspired by the Platonic solids, the mathematical shapes that have fascinated philosophers and scientists for centuries. Geddis explores the beauty and mystery of these forms, which he considers to be “holding a truth beyond human subjectivity and a magical existence that precedes us and will outlast us, that we get the pleasure of experiencing and interacting with”.
Geddis grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where he was exposed to the indigenous wood carvings of the region and became fascinated by their interpretations of nature. Later, during a family trip to Japan, when he was still young, he learned more about the art and culture of woodworking, and his fascination with nature and wood as a medium began to catalyze. He draws inspiration from the different environments and cultures he encounters, as well as from his own personal and spiritual journey. He aims to create sculptures that reflect his vision of harmony and balance in the world.
