Take a lunch break, Thailand! ‘Work Lunch Balance’ movement takes center stage with rice boss sculptures

Remember the satisfaction of a midday break away from your desk? In 2023, ZEN Restaurant and SOUR Bangkok joined forces to combat the trend of skipping lunch breaks due to the pandemic’s work-from-home shift. Their creative solution? The #WorkLunchBalance movement.

This campaign featured a unique twist: “Bento Boss”. These were miniature sculptures, made entirely of rice, that resembled some of Thailand’s most prominent CEOs. The campaign aimed to inspire these leaders to prioritize a healthy work-life balance, encouraging them to take lunch breaks and enjoy a meal away from their workspaces.

The campaign gained significant traction. Not only did the CEOs themselves embrace the movement on social media, but they even took their employees out for lunch at ZEN restaurants. The movement resonated with Thai office workers and netizens alike, spreading the message of #WorkLunchBalance far and wide.
