Taking inspiration from the fertile imagination of her childhood and her daughter, Atlantic City, NJ-born artist Sharon Sayegh creates marvelous surreal and allegorical paintings full of symbolism and fantasy, exploring memories, fleeting emotions, and relationships to nature.
Having painted my entire life I always self-identified as an artist. Art-making is a spiritual process and I only feel work is successful if I have been able to include a feeling of reverence or spirituality in my work. Creating a work of art is a god-like endeavor. To transform tubes of paint into an experience for the viewer is truly a magical experience for the creator. Approaching a new work is always a challenge as each piece requires a different approach than the preceding ones. A formula is never possible making me feel like a beginner every day even though I have spent years making art.
