Reservoir: a wondrous rain-themed outdoor installation by John Grade

John Grade is an American artist based in Seattle who draws inspiration from organic and natural shapes to create, with the support of his studio team, fabulous artworks. He is focused on elaborating immersive large-scale installations.

In his latest project, titled Reservoir, Grade suspended above a clearing in a grove of pine trees, in Italy, two clear filament nets full of thousands of heat-formed transparent droplets, framed in steam-bent wood. Each droplet works as a little reservoir what makes the shape and height of the installation change as long as they collect rainwater or lose it through evaporation. The clear color and arrangement make you feel as you’re looking at a pair of outdoor crystal chandeliers.
