Maldha Mohamed is a self-taught visual artist from the Maldives, specializing in oil paintings, mainly paintings of eyes full of expressions and emotions.
I felt inspired by painting the eyes as I’m a firm believer that the eyes are the only part of one’s being that can truly depict a person’s vulnerability. (…) I felt inspired to paint just the eye because an expression can be interpreted [in] a thousand different ways. (…) While I do give them names such as lust & desire, there are people that see it as something more, as a completely different emotion. It excites me to paint them, as I try to make them as raw as possible, to give it depth and life as I won’t be creating the same eye twice.
