Miho Hirano is a Japanese artist focused on oil painting on canvas that portrays female figures blended with natural elements, such as plants, flowers, birds, fish, and water. She takes inspiration from manga and people’s behavior to decorating themselves with jewelry. But, instead of adorning her protagonists with precious jewels and bijou, the painter beautifies them with one of the things she admires the most: nature.
Hirano takes elements from nature because she wants to emphasize the immanent beauty of vegetation and living beings. Even as a child, the artist felt a certain connection to animals and plants. As a fan of manga and comics, Hirano transports a certain childlike carefreeness into her artistic practice. Through her work she investigates the transience of life and the perpetual process of growing and maturing, which can also be transferred to humankind.
