Ariana Heinzman is a talented artist based in Vashon Island, Washington. She fuses ceramic with colorful drawings in bold lines to create unique stamped vessels.
Her work is an embodiment of the inseparable relationship of earth, body, and plant. Each piece is made using simple techniques (coil-building, glazing by hand with brushes) so that the hand comes through the work. The rim is cut and the form is covered in patterns of leaves. This process is done intuitively, without hesitation. There is no interest in perfection, rather an interest in what comes through in the urgency of making and what is trimmed and covered up.
