Elena Otvodenko is a still life photographer based in Moscow, Russia. Elena surprises us with her original portfolio full of creative and artistic still lifes, reminiscent of painting standards. Elena is inspired by the light and symbolism of Dutch and Flemish master painters of the 17th century and she tries to recreate the feel of classic still lifes in her photography. Her series of contemporary still lifes connect past, present and future.
Old objects from grandma’s chest made of glass, metal and pottery enter into interplay with seafood, fish, flowers, fruits and contemporary objects. Like Dutch and Flemish traditional still lifes, Elena’s works not only invite reflection on the transience of life but they also offer solace for the passage of time with their frozen beauty. Here, nine of Elena’s most inspiring works.
