Vorja Sánchez, an artist with a unique vision, transforms the ephemeral beauty of clouds into fantastical creatures that capture the imagination. His work is a dialogue with the natural environment, where he finds inspiration in the organic forms that surround him. Sánchez’s creative process involves being alert to the shapes and structures he encounters in daily life, sketching them quickly, and later developing them in his studio.
These cloud creatures, while slightly eerie, are also endearing, inviting viewers to look beyond the ordinary and find wonder in the skies above. His art is not just a display of creativity but also an exploration of the relationship between nature and imagination, encouraging us to see the familiar in a new light. Sánchez’s art can be found on various social media platforms, where he shares not only his finished works but also the nature that fuels his creativity and the techniques he employs in his craft.
It is fun to play at giving an appearance to fauna and flora that a priori (rationally) should not have. Nature, being ubiquitous, allows you to empathize with a creature even if you have never seen it before. You can create a being with a new appearance, but if you follow the guidelines you observe in the natural elements, it will be familiar, friendly. That’s the point I’m trying to reach with my work. Nature, in its inherent essence, grants the same dynamics of form regardless of the transcendence or size of each being, plant or element. In this way, a microorganism can have the same spheroidal structure as a galaxy, or the stone of a fruit the labyrinthine appearance of the shell of some type of invertebrate.
