Pablo Barba is a New York-based Chilean artist specializing in figurative paintings, on the edge between realism and allegory.
Inspired by historical genre painting, including “merry company” scenes, along with advertising and cartoons, Barba depicts small groups of people in familiar situations drawn from daily life, including water cooler chats, cofee breaks and an ofce party. While the scenes are rooted in historical imagery, they are charged with the energy of the present.
