The captivating photography series titled “Burning Man” is a collaborative effort between Guayaquil-based photographer Luciano Koenig Dupont and PS Retoucher, a Creative Studio from Portugal. In this remarkable collection, Dupont combines portrait photography, makeup art, and polygonal masks to symbolize the mental health challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As studies worldwide reveal increased anxiety, depression, and other psychological effects, these evocative images serve as a poignant reminder of our shared struggles. Each photograph captures the intersection of vulnerability and resilience, inviting viewers to contemplate the emotional complexities of our time.
Studies around the world indicate that a good part of the global population is suffering from anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress effects, increased development of eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, loss of physical condition due to lack of exercise), sleep disorders (insomnia) and suicidal thoughts or attitudes. (…) All visual expressions are a fundamental tool for documenting and expressing humanity’s feelings, and photography has always had the mission of leaving a trace of man’s passage through time.
