Yorkshire-based artist James Brunt has transformed the ordinary into extraordinary with his meticulous arrangements of natural materials. Utilizing leaves, rocks, and other elements found in nature, Brunt creates stunning cairns and mandalas that mesmerize and captivate. Each masterpiece is a testament to ephemeral beauty, where intricate details challenge the transience of nature’s bounty. Brunt’s work is not merely artistic expression but an immersive experience that invites us to pause and ponder the harmony found within the natural world. His creations often appear as if they emerged organically from the earth, embodying a delicate balance between chaos and order.
Through Responsible Fishing UK, an arts organization co-run with Timm Cleasby, Brunt shares his passion and expertise, encouraging others to explore their creative instincts. This endeavor underlines his commitment to fostering a deeper connection between people and their environments. By orchestrating workshops and exhibitions, the initiative highlights the importance of artistic exploration in everyday life. Brunt’s background in Fine Art from the Byam Shaw School of Art and his experience in arts development further enrich his ability to weave compelling narratives through his work. His creations inspire a collective appreciation for the subtle complexity and undeniable beauty that nature offers.
I studied Fine Art at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London. After working for galleries and a long stint in Arts Development I now live and work with my family in Yorkshire. I also run the arts organisation Responsible Fishing UK along with the very lovely and super talented Timm Cleasby.
