Tiny looms, big creativity: weaving on wishbones and branches, by Kaci Smith

Have you ever looked at a wishbone and seen more than just a lucky charm? Artist Kaci Smith did, and the result is a collection of miniature loom creations that are both beautiful and captivating. During the long days of the COVID-19 lockdown, Smith found herself drawn to this unique art form. Using wishbones and branches as her canvas, she began weaving intricate patterns with colorful threads.

Smith’s work is a testament to the power of finding creativity in unexpected places. With limited resources at her disposal, she transformed everyday objects into miniature masterpieces. The delicate nature of the wishbones and branches adds a sense of fragility to the pieces, while the vibrant colors and intricate patterns create a sense of wonder. Smith’s art reminds us that even during challenging times, there is always room for beauty and self-expression.

The air was so filled with smoke that even my studio became off-limits. The first branch weaving was just a way to pass some time and do something creative while being stuck indoors.
