Vanyu Krastev, a Bulgarian artist, has brought a unique charm to the streets of Bulgaria with his whimsical urban intervention known as “eyebombing”. By adorning broken and inanimate street objects with googly eyes, Krastev transforms mundane urban elements into engaging, anthropomorphic characters. The project got started two years ago, inspired by works of Eye Bombing, explains Krastev.
This playful form of street art not only captures the imagination of passersby but also highlights the often-overlooked nooks and crannies of the urban landscape. Krastev’s creations serve as a reminder that art can be found in the most unexpected places and that a simple pair of eyes can breathe life into the lifeless, turning a walk down the street into an amusing visual experience.
Eyebombing is a street art in which small plastic eyes are glued to an inanimate object. The idea is to skillfully give it the appearance of a living being. The aim is to humanize the streets and the environment, thus giving a sunny and warm emotion to passers-by.
