Jyo John Mulloor’s “Don’t Believe Your Eyes” is a captivating surrealist photo collage series that challenges the viewer’s perception of reality. The Dubai-based digital artist has ingeniously superimposed a variety of spectacular images onto real-life eyes, creating a mind-boggling contradiction in scale. This series, composed of nine images, transforms piercing blue eyes into vast oceans and velvety golden-brown eyes into a home for squirrels and birds, evoking a range of emotions from comfort to mild terror.
Mulloor’s work plays with the popular expression “eyes are the windows to the soul”, by offering a literal and surreal interpretation that invites the audience to question what they see. The project’s nature-based pictures might provoke feelings of tranquility, while other images, such as ominous hands stretched across a white iris, may stir sensations of unease. The “Don’t Believe Your Eyes” series is a testament to Mulloor’s creativity and skill in digital artistry, presenting a unique visual experience that blurs the lines between the real and the imagined.
Actually eyes are windows to the soul but in this project i tried to superimpose the range of spectacular images to real life eyes, creating surreal artwork with a detailed contradiction in scale. This project is ten image series. piercing blue eyes have been transformed to water and clouds while velvety golden-brown peepers are now home to a squirrel, a bird, and a mysterious railway track. The variety of images is used to evoke different feelings. the nature-based pictures might provoke feelings of comfort or tranquility while the ominous hands stretched out across a white iris may evoke sensations of mild terror. meanwhile, the egg yolk eyes are just fantastically bizarre.
