London’s bustling markets are bursting with color and life, but for artist Marija Tiurina, they’re a source of inspiration unlike any other. Her ongoing series, titled “Fruit as Characters”, takes fruits and vegetables and imbues them with personality, transforming everyday produce into whimsical and captivating characters.
Tiurina’s artistic eye breathes life into even the most familiar fruits and veggies. Imagine a curious horned melon sporting inquisitive horns, a chill purple cabbage with sunglasses perched atop its leafy head, or an alluring dragon fruit with scales that shimmer and glow. Each creation boasts unique characteristics that reflect the essence of the fruit or vegetable it portrays.
Some characters appear confident, some shy, and some downright wacky, but all hold a certain charm that makes you smile. By showcasing the beauty and personality hidden within everyday produce, Tiurina’s artwork invites us to see the world around us in a fresh and imaginative light.
Most of the characters were quite hard to figure, and it took a while sketching them over and over again.
