Paintbrushes were meant to be tools that help us in the production of artworks, but, in the hands of Chinese-American artist Rebecca Szeto, they turn into artworks themselves. In her ongoing series titled “Paintbrush Portraits” (started in 1999), old carved paintbrushes become canvasses for beautiful portraits – that are also at the same time sculptures.
