The enchantingly ethereal photography series by Neil Burnell transports admirers to a realm where time seems to stand still. His work captures the untouched beauty and mystical atmosphere of mossy, fog-covered forests, evoking a sense of wonder and enchantment. Each photograph is an immersion into nature’s green cathedral, where tendrils of moss drape gracefully over ancient trees and a blanket of mist swathes the forest floor. The interplay of light and shadow in Burnell’s images creates a symphony of tranquility and mystery, conjuring sentiments that suggest hidden secrets whispered by the woods. His keen eye for detail and composition turns every shot into a narrative full of depth and emotion, inviting us to lose ourselves in the endless expanse of the natural world.
Burnell’s photography not only highlights the aesthetic allure of these mystical landscapes but also emphasizes the delicate balance that defines these ecosystems. The haunting beauty of fog-laden forests reminds us of the natural world’s fragility and timelessness, urging a deeper appreciation for these wild spaces. The immersive aura of each image makes us ponder their symbiotic relationship with nature and the importance of conserving such pristine environments. By sharing these magical images, Burnell serves as both an artist and an advocate for the preservation of the planet’s dwindling wilderness, inspiring others to cherish and protect the lush sanctuaries that still exist. His work is a clarion call to respect and admire the world’s serene beauty, resonating with those who yearn for the tranquility and mystery of nature’s untouched landscapes.
Mystical has been an ongoing photographic project from Wistman’s Wood over the last 5 years. This series takes a look at the fairytale-like atmosphere created by the thick fog, gnarled trees, and moss-covered stones of Wistman’s Wood in Dartmoor, Devon, England. Regular visits over the past few years have enabled me to explore ever corner of the woodland and access areas rarely seen. I’ve also slowly adapted my shooting and processing style to a stage where I’m now happy to exhibit the latest images in the series. Exhibiting this series was always the end goal for me and I’m now proud to be able to do so with Taylor Jones & Son.
