Discarded packaging recycled into renaissance costumes by Suzanne Jongmans

Suzanne Jongmans, a Dutch artist, has brilliantly merged the past with the present in her project “Mind over Matter”, where she breathes new life into discarded materials by crafting them into Renaissance-themed costumes. Drawing inspiration from the grandeur of Flemish painting masters like Rogier Van der Weyden, Rembrandt, and Hans Holbein, Jongmans creates a visual dialogue between history and contemporary waste.

Her work is not just a nod to the meticulous craftsmanship of the old masters but also a commentary on today’s throwaway culture. Through her transformative art, she challenges viewers to see the beauty and potential in the overlooked and undervalued, turning what would be trash into treasures that echo the richness of history.
