Zarina Situmorang, a self-taught artist from Moscow, Russia, creates splendid oil on canvas paintings that are a testament to her poetic inspiration drawn from classic literature, body language, emotions, and light. Her works are a visual exploration of the human psyche, delving into themes of hope, faith, support, and self-doubt, all under the overarching presence of light.
Situmorang’s paintings are more than just art; they are narratives that speak to the soul. Each brushstroke is a word, each color a sentence, and every canvas a story waiting to be read. Her art is a celebration of the intangible, capturing the essence of feelings and emotions that are often left unspoken.
I am inspired by emotions and feelings. What’s happening inside and outside of people’s minds. Hope, faith, support, self-doubt – all of these themes interest me. And light! The changes of values, temperatures. Blending helps me to show the seamlessness of light transitions. If I were a bug, I would probably be one of those that’s endlessly beating against light bulbs. I’m in love with both the traditional approaches to painting and contemporary art trends.
